Hi, I'm Melinda. I'm a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Performance Enhancement, Corrective Exercise, Weight Loss and Women's Fitness Specialist. I have been working in this industry since 2021 and have helped many clients sharing my knowledge and experience to achieve their goals. I believe that it is never too late to get in shape and be the best version of yourself as long as you are prepared to work hard and commit fully towards your goals.
My own personal fitness journey didn't commence until I was in my late twenties, when my husband encouraged me to join the local gym following the birth of my oldest son and with son number two arriving sometime later, the gym, and especially group exercise classes became my escape of choice.
In my mid thirties, I started to notice excess fat around my waist and hips despite working out 5-6 days a week, doing group exercise classes which were mainly cardio based. I had also enrolled in a local running club and as a result, I was extremely fit and even completed a few running competitions, but still the excess fat and unwanted weight gain remained an issue.
I was hoping that intense cardiovascular training would help me to lose the excess pounds and body fat. My diet was somewhat clean, or so I thought at the time. I was led to believe that eating carbs was bad and likely the reason for my lack of progress. One time, I even signed up for a 'cleanse diet' which promised that I could lose half a stone by eating nothing but diet shakes and broccoli for 7 days. I sincerely believed that it would work at the time, but in retrospect, it was never sustainable and I put all the weight back on the following week.
Due to disappointing results from my own experience, I decided to enrol the help of an online trainer. I was given a strength training program to follow and was educated on applying a balance approach to nutrition. This whole new experience has opened up my eyes to how weight loss actually works. I achieved my goal weight in 12 weeks, and because I was strength training at the same time, I was also building muscle, looked better toned whilst also losing body fat.
Aged forty, I took part in my first bodybuilding show, which I'd never dreamed of in my twenties and thirties, and is an experience that I will definitely never forget. I found it to be hugely empowering experience and it has helped make me the motivated and body confident woman that I am now.
Now that I have accumulated nearly 8 years of strength training experience and knowledge, and have witnessed first hand how effective this can be in the development of a healthy, toned and lean female body, my mission is to now help and educate other women to implement a bespoke strength training and nutrition plan, that incorporates healthy, attainable, and most importantly, sustainable body confidence results.
